Hefners mark anniversary with open house

COLERIDGE — Hefner Oil and Feed has been a part of the Coleridge community for 70 years, and this past week they held their 20th annual open house.
Kerry Hefner’s father and uncle started the business back in 1947 and he has worked there for over 40 years.
“We have changed over time, and no longer sell as much feed as we used to,” said Hefner. “Now we mainly deal with oil and tires.”
Hefner Oil is one of the oldest businesses in Coleridge, and the community comes out during the open house in support. Over 100 people came to the event, Hefner said.
Hefner Oil uses the open house as a great time to show off their operation, sell tires and stimulate business.
“We try to build a rapport with our customers,” said Hefner. “We go to church together, we go to the bar together, we are basically one big family.”
