Coleridge History: Hefner sworn into office

Jan. 12, 1977

LINCOLN  — Elroy Hefner, Coleridge, was sworn in as State Senator for the 19th Legislative District last Wednesday, Jan. 5.

Hefner was elected in the general election to fill a four-year term.

Hefner has been serving in the Legislature the past month, being appointed by Governor J. James Exon to fill the seat vacated by retiring Senator Jules Burbach, Hartington, on Dec. 1.

Hefner believes his 30 years experience as an agri-business man will enable him to adequately serve his constituents.

Senator Hefner has been appointed to the Agriculture and Environment and Revenue Committees.
